The Ramaciotti Centre offers RNA 6000 Nano Lab-on-a-Chip and Small RNA Lab-on-a-Chip services only. Due to infrequent demand, we do not routinely offer any other Lab-on-a-Chip assay service. The total RNA 6000 Nano assay provides you with a quantification estimate and RNA Integrity Number (RIN) for each RNA sample. The RIN is a reliable tool which allows you to compare the integrity of RNA samples. After measuring the quality of a total RNA extract by the RNA 6000 Nano assay, the Small RNA assay offers a detailed view on the 6 – 150 nt range. The Small RNA Assay allows you to verify and optimize your miRNA extraction procedures.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost per chip/sample?
The cost per RNA 6000 Nano chip (12 samples) is $60. The cost per lane/sample is $5.
The cost per Small RNA chip (11 samples) is $70. We do not offer this service on a per sample basis, you must fill the chip.
These prices are subject to change without notice.
How much RNA is required for the assay?
The amount of total RNA required for the RNA 6000 Nano chip is 25-500 ng.
The amount of total RNA required for the small RNA chip is 25-100 ng of total RNA or 5-20 ng of purified miRNA.
How do I submit my samples?
Users are required to complete an online Agilent Bioanalyzer Sample Submission Form.
Before submitting samples for analysis they must meet the following criteria:
- 2μl of RNA resuspended in nuclease free H20.
- RNA should be at a concentration of 25-500 ng/ul.
- For the RNA 6000 Nano chip RNA should be at a concentration of 25-500 ng/ml.
- For the Small RNA chip total RNA should be at a concentration of 25-100 ng/ml of total RNA or 5-20 ng/ml of purified miRNA.
- Samples should be clearly labelled and in 1.5 ml tubes.
- Samples must be labelled with your initials and consecutive numbering. Numbers should be a continuous series which can be maintained across sample submissions e.g. XX01, XX02, XX03, XX04 etc.
How long will it take?
It will take about 2-3 working days if you are running a full chip of 12 samples. If you are running <12 samples and want to pay per lane, we usually will wait until we can fill the chip with other samples before we run it.
What output files do I receive?
Your data will be emailed in the form of a pdf file. If you require the .xad file (which can only be opened using Agilent Bioanalyzer software) this can also be supplied upon request.
If you have any other questions regarding Bioanalyzer assays please consult the Frequently Asked Questions page on the Agilent website.
